Some review strategies:

REVIEW BACK

Many conscientiously try to “review back” – if someone watches his/her movie, he/she tries to make a point of watching one of their movies in return.


RANDOM MOVIES

Some utilize the Random Movies feature on TMU. They feel that this gives them an opportunity to watch movies that might otherwise have been overlooked. Many “hidden gems” have been discovered this way.


A SET GOAL EACH WEEK/DAY/MONTH

Rather than attempting to try to watch every movie that is released, some members set a goal to watch a certain numbers of movies within a set time frame. They make their viewing choices based on a variety of factors, including movies that interest them, newcomers, directors whose work they have enjoyed in the past, random movies, etc.


WATCHING THE FEATURED MOVIES

The front page of TMU carries 15 featured movies, 1 spotlighted movie, and 1 editor’s choice. By keeping up with these selections, some members feel that they are able to stay in the loop on what’s currently “hot” in the community. Likewise, some watch each week's Top 10 Commented.


WATCH EM ALL!

Some members go out of their way to watch every movie that is released. I can’t think of much else to say about this method except for – wow!


WATCHING MOVIES BY NEWCOMERS

Many members make a concerted effort to watch movies that are posted by people that are new to the community. They do this both out of curiosity to see what type of movies the newcomer makes, and also as a way of welcoming them to TMU.


CHOOSING TO WATCH MOVIES BY THEIR “FAVORITES”

Let’s face it – we all have favorite directors. And some members just don’t have the time to watch every movie that is released. However, they are often first in line to watch the movies of director’s they are diehard fans of.


WATCHING RECOMMENDED MOVIES

A few members of the community have set up channels with their movie recommendations (Bizness in the Front, The Dark Side, Dulcilicious Recommendations). By opting to join those channels, members can receive an email each time a new movie is recommended by that individual. Members who choose their route feel that this helps make sure that when they do watch a movie on TMU, it’s going to be one that fits their particular style.


REVIEW THREAD

Some members have set up “Review Threads” here on the forums, usually with an opening post about how to list a movie in their thread for their perusal.



Whichever method of reviewing fits your personal style, there is one thing most of us who upload movies agree on – if you watch our movie, please leave a comment. A comment can be as simple as “Nice effort!” or as extensive as a pages long review. Think of how you feel when you see comments pop up on your movie page. Please share that same pleasure with your fellow community members. After all, we should all be here to support one another.
